Soccer midfielder Kylie Doniak, who started in all but one of the Longhorns’ games in the 2008 season, also stressed the importance of preparing for the future. “I think we’re more experienced now,” Doniak said about the soccer underclassmen. “We’re going to go out there and have a little more fun because we’re more relaxed. Hopefully, we can incorporate the younger girls into the team and go out strong.”

Kylie Doniak was not there to receive her diploma in 2012. Brackenridge Hospital administrators called the Doniak family and said, ‘Your daughter got hit by a drunk driver.’ Kylie was in a coma for six weeks and, once she was well enough to leave the hospital, returned to California for more medical treatment.

“We were all at home, and we got that phone call at (midnight),” David Doniak, Kylie’s father, said. “It was from Brackenridge, the hospital, called us and said,

Before the accident, Kylie worked with kids at an Austin hospital, where she also helped coordinate volunteers. As she enters the professional world, she hopes to do something similar. “I would want to work with kids whether in a hospital, or I’m applying to do something in California with a school just to get around kids more,” Kylie said.
Kylie says she has kept in contact with her teammates, including those who graduated.
More than two years after the crash, she returned to the Mike A. Myers Track and Soccer Stadium, where she had played four years before.
But this time, she walked across the field to take graduation pictures. Despite many challenges, she knew she’d walk across the stage. “I knew I was going to only ’cause I’m very stubborn, and I’m not going to ever change that, but I didn’t know when,” Kylie said.
“They’re making my weekend fun and all about me, which sounds so greedy, but they’re making it like that because they are just so excited to have me and just give me the experience I didn’t think I was going to get,” Kylie said. “I love it still, and being out there, I’m like, ‘Aw, that’s where I used to do this drill and shoot it right there.’ So I love it still.” “It’s such a nice field,” Kylie said.

Kylie Has A Support System Of Family And Professionals Who Love Her Heart, Soul, And Spirit. They Have Helped Mend Her Great Spirit.

Kylie has been in critical condition, with many significant injuries, including broken bones and severe head trauma. However, she has been making immense progress and is on her road to recovery. We ask that prayers stay strong as Kylie continues to win this battle. God has shown his high power and that those who Walk by Faith will be healed.

“She had to learn how to walk again, talk again,” David Doniak said. “You’re like, ‘I don’t think she’ll ever graduate.’ But for her to do it is just unbelievable.

As for the man who hit Kylie, Nicholas Colunga was convicted in August 2013 and sentenced to 14 years in prison. Kylie says she doesn’t have a problem with forgiving him.

Michelle Adamolekun – Building the Brand

Michelle Adamolekun says:

”Together, we will strive for gender equality, to level the playing field, and create a world where all girls and women can reach their true potential and achieve their goals on and off the soccer field.”

Michelle is a native of Jamaica. Her family moved to New York City when she was still a subteen, and she went on to earn a track & field scholarship to The University of Texas. At UT, Michelle was a two-time national champion.

She has continued her winning ways in life, serving as Chief Human Resources Officer for a major health system. Michelle is also president of the Reggae Girlz Foundation, a non-profit that enables young women to further their education through soccer.

Adamolekun and her husband are the parents of two adult children who are accomplished international soccer players. She took time out of her busy schedule to answer questions from TLSN’s Larry Carlson.

The Bill Bradley story is one of the most compelling ones in Longhorn sports history.

It is the saga of vast talent and versatility, great expectations, challenges, and disappointments, then adjustments, redemption, and triumph.

In the wake of the aborted 0-1-1 takeoff in 1968, Royal called Bradley in and told him he would be going with James Street under center. Bradley later recalled phoning his father in Palestine, ready to call it quits. His father was having none of that.

Bradley’s leadership qualities and pride in his status as a captain, a title voted on by his teammates, came through in humorous, self-deprecating style in the Horns’ first practice since the demotion. Lining up as a novice backup receiver, Bradley loosened the drawstrings on his sweatpants. Midway through his route, the erstwhile QB was stumbling over dropped pants, baring a full moon for his teammates. The practice field erupted with laughter, and the nervous tension was instantly dispelled. Finally, it was time to focus on Saturday night’s non-conference bout with Oklahoma State.

Bill Bradley’s odyssey lives on in record books and highlights a long, glossy personal resume. The DB, who might always hold the UT record of four pass interceptions in a single game, went on to pro football stardom. Chosen by Philadelphia in the third round of the NFL draft, Bradley was delivering well as a rookie punter and return man when he pestered coaches into letting him in on defense during a midseason game against Dallas. On his first NFL scrimmage play, Super Bill broke on a Roger Staubach pass intended for Mike Ditka, hijacked it, and took it 56 yards for a TD.

Marvin Kristynik – A Far-Sighted Story.

When DKR retired from football in 1976, a reporter asked, “how about picking out some players who got the very most out of their ability? “Coach Royal said, “Marvin Kristynik damn sure would be an entry.”

However, on one particular day in 1965, it took Marvin more than just ability to overcome adversity. It required a conspiratorial Longhorn team and one loyal fan to solve a potentially game-changing event.

On the day of the Arkansas game in Fayetteville, Marvin, with a gasp and a gulp, realized that he had left his eyes (contacts) in his room at the team hotel in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Marvin chose not to tell Coach Royal. Instead, he shared his dilemma with some of his teammates, who passed the word to super Longhorn fan Jack Perry.

Jack immediately requested and received a police escort, drove to the Fayetteville airport, hopped on his private jet, flew to Fort Smith, retrieved the contacts, and delivered Marvin’s sight to him before the game started.

Coach Royal learned about Marvin’s dilemma in the paper the next day.

Unfortunately, Texas still lost the game, but for other reasons than sight unseen.

University of Texas soccer player Kylie Doniak should have walked across the stage to receive her diploma in 2012. But on February 3, 2012, she was hit by a convicted drunk driver while walking downtown, pausing her plans.

“We were all at home, and we got that phone call at (midnight),” David Doniak, Kylie’s father, said. “It was from Brackenridge, the hospital, called us and said, ‘Your daughter got hit by a drunk driver.’ So that was hard, very hard.” Kylie was in a coma for six weeks after the crash that nearly took her life. Shortly after, she was well enough to return to California to continue medical treatments.
