The team won its 5th straight outdoor SWC championship, with Jim McGoldrick as the team captain.
At one point, 15 athletes were hurt, and six members were dropped from the team. McGoldrick is the only Longhorn winner at the Texas relays.
Jim McGoldrick was a standout track and field athlete for the Texas Longhorns in the 1970s, particularly known for his dominance in the discus throw.
