James Street Sculpt

In 12 months the remodeled South entrance to DKR stadium will house the new bronze bust of the 4 National Championship Longhorn quarterbacks.

Our four national championship teams were all led by iconic quarterbacks, Duke Carlisle, James Street, Eddie Phillips, and Vince Young. Busts have already been commissioned for each quarterback. The pillars for the bust will honor the names of the players on the teams. The bust will be displayed prominently in the new football building that will support the upper deck in the south end zone now under construction.

All the donor names will be either etched in the granite pedestals or engraved on a brass plate. A decision on the engraving process will be determined after we know the number of donors.

Clay Model of James Street ,one of 4 Longhorn National Championship Quarterbacks, is complete.

From Jimmy Nixon:

As fans, I know we all appreciate the large donors, but on this project, I wanted to offer the fan base an opportunity to be part of a legacy. For a donation of $250, your name (or the name of a loved one) will be forever a part of Longhorn football history.

The University has agreed to accept the gift of the busts and provide each donor with a tax deduction letter when delivered. Please provide your name and address along with your email address with your check.

Checks should be payable to:

1. Non-specific Statue Fund

2. Duke Carlisle Statue Fund (clay model is complete, but funding is not complete)

3. Eddie Phillips Statue Fund (clay model in process, but funding is not complete.)

4. Vince Young Statue Fund – The process has not begun with some funding received.

(James Street Statue sold out) Of the remaining three bust, it would be most helpful if you gave us the option of applying the money to any of the three busts the artist is working on at the time. However, you will still have the choice to have your name associated with the bust you choose. Mail checks to Pat Frost, c/o Frost National Bank, P. O. Drawer 1600, San Antonio, Texas 78296

Sincerely, Jimmy Nixon
