Reflection Point – Baseball

Great guy….Greg Swindell and Roger Clemens were the last athletes I tutored after three years at the job…..I got a “tutor sheet” (to account for our time) out and turned it over and asked them to sign it for me “just in case they got famous”….They humored me and signed it….I put it in my notebook and in my backpack….later, I got it out to put it in a place of safe keeping and Roger had signed…..”with all my LOVE, Roger Clemens”….still have it!!!
Bill, Looks like you played during the championship years, that’s amazing. I just wanted to text you and see if I was getting any closer to the top of the list for you looking up my granddad Max Schlegel for baseball catcher 1939 and ’40. Any pictures or statements of him that you can find is greatly appreciated. Thanks again,

Coach Gus and Garrido both won 2 national titles at Texas, as did Bibb Falk. 3 of only 4 Longhorn baseball coaches at Texas from 1911 through 2016, the other being Billy Disch. Records for the coaches at Texas: Arguments can be made for all 4 as being the best.

Thanks so deeply for the outstanding article on Coach Bibb Falk. My dad, Charles Munson, played for and idolized his beloved Coach Falk. If I had been a boy my name was to be “Bibb Falk Munson.” It was a delight and honor for my mother, Dorothy, and I, to get to sit by Bibb in the stands as he was truly wonderfully a one-of-a-kind champion and an MVP legend.
