Basketball-Slater Martin
Slater Martin set the Texas single-game scoring record with 49 points.
Martin’s historic night came against TCU in an 81-60 win in Gregory Gym.
He hit 21 field goals and seven free throws.
Martin was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on May 3, 1982. He is the only Longhorn to be so honored. On January 31, 2009, the University of Texas retired his jersey number 15, making him the second Longhorn basketball player to have his number retired. He is also the first Longhorn to play in the NBA.
