2002-2003

In 2002-2003. Texas became the first division I team in NCAA history to have:

  • football in the top 10

  • Basketball in the Final 4

  • Baseball in the CWS

  • Swimming and diving place 2nd nationally

  • Golf was 9th

  • Tennis reached the sweet 16

  • Indoor track was 9th

  • Outdoor track was 21st

  • Cross Country was 23rd.

Every men’s sport this year qualified for the NCAA postseason competition and all were in the top 25.

Texas men’s and women’s basketball teams made the Final 4 in 2003. The women lost to Connecticut and the men lost to Syracuse.
