In the 1962 Cotton Bowl, the University of Mississippi presented a 51-yard by 90-yard Texas Flag to Texas Governor Daniel and the Texas Band. The band director Vincent Dinino could not spare the bodies needed to run the flag out on the field so he gave it to the U.T. Athletic Department, who then transferred the flag to the Alpha Phil Omega organization which was responsible for the unfurling of the flag on the field at the DKR stadium.
