When Billy Dale told me about the Texas Legacy Sports Network, I thought it was an outstanding cause and told him I would help in any way I could. I felt honored when Billy asked me to join the board, because the UT athletic family is very important to me and has played a significant role in my life. I feel very blessed to have played baseball at the University of Texas and to be a part of the UT athletic fraternity. Through my involvement as a student-athlete, I developed relationships with not only my teammates, but other UT athletes, as well. By remaining connected to UT athletics in my post playing career, my relationship circle has expanded even more with athletes from other eras, as well as influential alumni.
I have a love of, and feel a strong commitment to the UT athletic family. I am a very strong believer in looking after your own, and I am excited to contribute in any way I can.

Still, the Horns made the CWS tournament and came close to winning the national championship, finally losing to Wichita State.  Texas was undefeated in CWS tournament play, but a new ruling that allowed only one game to decide the National championship cost the Horns the title.  Horns entered the CWS with a 51-17 record.
