Keifer’s  accomplishments  remind all Longhorns that In sports and far beyond, his contributions  to Longhorn heritage have shaped the present and empowered the future.


Keifer Marshall HOH 1996

the 1943 team Keifer was the center and linebacker when the Horns played Randolph Air Force base in San Antonio, Tx. Keifer played the entire 60 minutes of the game and it was the only time in the history of the Cotton Bowl that a freshman accomplished that feat.

1996 Longhorn Hall of Honor inductee Keifer Marshall, Jr., age 91 of Temple, died Sunday, May 28, 2017. He was a letterman and captain of the football team and was selected to play in the 1943 Texas High School All-Star Game. He went on to attend the University of Texas, lettering in football, where, as a true freshman, played all 60 minutes of the 1944 Cotton Bowl Classic  He was also a member of the Chancellor’s Council of the University of Texas System. As a Marine, Keifer first fought on Guam, then Iwo Jima, where, out of his company of 250 men, only few survived.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert William Keifer Marshall III,  who also played football for the longhorns in the early 70’s.
