Opposition for the new track stadium

On April 26th, 1996 the law firm of Sharpe and Spurlock and many former Longhorn student sent a polite letter to the Longhorn leaders of the Sports complex opposing the plans of demolishing the track at DKR for more seating and building an new track and soccer stadium.

The primary concern of those who opposed the new track was it would be a smaller venue with smaller attendance than the DKR facility. limit the attendance to big track events. The letter concludes that there was a consensus opposition to removal of the DKR track. Obviously, the plea to Dr. Robert Berdahl, Deloss Dodds, and Tom Hicks failed.

Conrad’s notes also written on 4, 26, 1996 share the thoughts of many at the time.

Deloss Dodds response to the former Longhorn track men’s concern that the size of the new track/soccer field would limit attendance and fan interest in their chosen sport.
