Joseph Magliolo (1922–2008)
– Born in Galveston, he played football for the University of Texas at Austin in 1942 and 1943.
– After serving in the Navy during WWII, he earned a degree in chemical engineering and played professionally for the New York Yankees of the All-America Football Conference.
– He later worked for Monsanto and became a driving force behind tennis in the Clear Lake area, founding the Bay Area Racquet Club.
– Known for his community involvement, he was active in his church and promoted tennis well into his 70s.
