ALRIGHT …. HERE IS MY BREAKDOWN OF WHAT I THINK ARE THE TOP 15 DEFENSIVE BACKS IN TEXAS LONGHORNS FOOTBALL HISTORY. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF MY ORDER.

1. Michael Huff – 2005

He was a Consensus All-American, a Thorpe Award winner, and a national champion. He was a precise and technical player who combined intellect with athletic ability. He had a second sense of where the ball was going and was always in the right position for the play.

2. Jerry Gray -One of the patriarchs of DBU . More info to follow.

3. Nathan Vasher

The only DB to be an All-American at two different positions. Holds Big 12 record for career interceptions (17) with Noble Doss

Nathan Vasher earned All-American honors as a defensive backs and as a return specialist.

4. Earl Thomas -If he stayed four years he’d be on the Mount Rushmore. Is the school single-season interceptions leader.

5. Johnnie Johnson

Two-time consensus All-American and selected to the SWC All-Decade team of the 1970’s.

6. Aaron Ross

Winner of the Thorpe Award in 2006 as the nation’s top DB.

7. Raymond Clayborn

Two-time All-SWC selection and an All-American.

8. Noble Doss

Tied as career interceptions leader, but never was All-American or all-conference.

9. Quentin Jammer -Consensus All-American, responsible for making DBU relevant again. The first player in UT history to be named a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, he started 41 games. The way he covered and his ability to read the receiver made him a defensive back ahead of his time.

10.Bryant Westbrook All-SWC player and an All-American.

11. Kenny Vaccaro First-Team All-Big 12 performer in 2011 and 2012, plus an All American.

12. Lance Gunn -He’s a three-time All-SWC player and an All American

13. Stanley Richard“The Sheriff” was All-SWC and an All-American in 1990.

14. Michael Griffin An All-American and First-Team All-Big 12 selection in 2006.
