National Championship reunion
Many of the 1969 National Championship team members have emailed me recently, stating they have not heard anything about the pending celebration. Yesterday I made contact with Ricky Brown about this subject and here is his response.
Thanks, Billy. I will call you soon. We are working on getting the information out about the National Championship celebration. We are planning to host the 1969 team over the weekend of the Kansas game. We will send a save the date soon and details will be forthcoming. Call me anytime!
Best,
Ricky

I am passing this request along from a special friend of the University of Texas-Raul Allegre. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR DONATIONS TO THE TLSN TAX EXEMPT ACCOUNT. Donations to help Bill’s family will be funneled to a Gofundme account set up by Bill Bradley. Billy Dale

Hello Billy – Hope you are well.
Perhaps you are already aware of this, but Bill Bradley’s sister died unexpectedly a few days ago. She was the caregiver for Bill’s brother who has special needs. The family needs help and Bill opened a GoFundMe account. This is the URL for the account: https://www.gofundme.com/f/duffy-bradley-care-fund
Would you be able to forward this request to the readers of the Texas Legacy Support Network newsletter?
Best regards,
Raul Allegre

In the Que is a fascinating story about tennis player Stewart Keller’s Longhorn sports lineage. I believe that the Keller clan represents the oldest family tree in the history of Longhorn sports (1899-2019).
A SELF PORTRAIT OF CTE
The road that Greg and Deb Ploetz traveled is a reflection of the struggles that many of our teammates and their families have suffered from this dreaded disease.
Above Tom Kite is talking to Coach Penick while Ben Crenshaw listens. Harvey coached some great golfers both men and women while he was the Longhorn Golf coach.

#20 Horns,
With all of our combined efforts, we have approx 250+ current attendees that have RSVP’d.
Mrs. Akers would like to send out one final communication. The intent is to remind and give Akers Era Players, Coaches, Angels, and Cheerleaders a chance to RSVP (if they have not already). The celebration will definitely be a very special and memorable event. We also need a good count for the caterers, and hotel accommodations are also noted in the revised communication.
Thanks, and Hook ‘em Horns!
Debra Shankle and Akers Celebration Planning Committee.
The revised “Last Call” invite is below:
Under the rules of the time, a punt that bounced into the end zone was a live ball and could be recovered for a touchdown or touchback. On one such kick, Bill Robinson of Texas and Byron McCreary of OU raced for a ball that rolled underneath a horse hitched to a buggy beyond the goal line. McCreary ran around the horse, and Robinson dived between its hooves to recover the ball. Since there was no end line, the ball was in play and Texas was awarded a touchdown.

Fred Bednarski
EVERY NIGHT ENDS THE SAME, AS THE ENTIRE FAMILY GETS ON THEIR KNEES AND RECITES THE LORD’S PRAYER………. IF ONE DAILY ACT DEFINES THE BEDNARSKI’S IT IS THE RECITATION OF THIS PRAYER. THEY BELIEVE IT, AND THEY BELIEVE THAT THEY WILL BE DELIVERED FROM THE EVIL FORCES THAT HAVE UPROOTED THEM FROM THE VILLAGE IN OCCUPIED POLAND WHERE THEY WERE LOADED INTO CATTLE CARS ON THE TRAIN THAT HAS TAKEN THEM TO AUSTRIA NEARLY 1,000 MILES AWAY.
Quote from Amy Goodwin
“The picture above reflects a very special moment in my life. On this day in 1989 it was my father’s turn to have a front row seat as I entered USC sports history as an All American in Cross Country. Even though my dad passed away in 2005, he and I are still bonded. In good times and bad times our spirits continue to connect and during those moments I draw strength from him.”
